We believe strongly in the value of insight and research. But most businesses that set out to be strategy consultancies morph into pure research businesses arguing that clients won’t pay for strategy.

That obviously isn’t true. Clients pay £mn for McKinsey, Bain, BCG et al. A different sort of strategy of course.

And so we conducted research amongst more senior and more junior marketing personnel investigating why they don’t pay for marketing strategy.

More junior personnel tended to say “We can do it ourselves”. More senior personnel tended to say “We would like to buy it but the people in the suppliers are no more experienced than my team and so we might as well do it ourselves.”

Very different perspectives arriving at the same outcome.

And so every one of our projects, regardless of its nature – research alone or strategy and research – are managed day-to-day by people with very substantial, successful experience. Nothing leaves our business without them overseeing it. Only they conduct qualitative research.
